Is it doomsday for Bengali Hindus?

[This article had been penned only a few days back but by now, lots of more sinister developments have marred Bengal more; the most precarious being Sandeshkhali. Bloodthirsty struggles  aside communal feuds have never been any new to this diminutive community development block within the administrative division of Basirhat subdivision of North 24 Paraganas district. But the recent rage coupled with insensate aim to wipe out Hindus from the said area once and for all is indeed novel to the state’s political scenario.  Without doubt, the chronicle of acute polarization as perceived in the recent Lok Sabha election, 2019 within the periphery of Bengal would deepen more; to be strengthened by burgeoning Islamist approaches, endorsed by local administration most.

How would Hindus, Bengali Hindus in particular,  deal with the menace or get triumphant by treading it down remains to be seen with utmost attention. But if not – then, as per the ancient wisdom goes – the word ‘destitution’ would get synonymous to Bengali Hindus and a permanent void would await them. An individual without a future is called dead..if West Bengal is lost, a disastrous destiny would command only…it’s the time for Bengali Hindus to take the final call or to gear up for the last confrontation…..it’s do or die finally….]

When this article is being written, the whole of Bengal is caught in laughter preceded by a wonder. Sm. Mamata Banerjee, the reigning Chief Minister of Bengal, known in rest of the country more for her tomfoolery, has expressed her disdain to the chanting of “Jai Shri Ram” with clamor once more. The incident this time took place amidst Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency. While her convoy was driving fast, “Jai Shri Ram” proved to be enough to make her both stop and caustic. She not only got off but also warned of dire consequences. Well, this time she was no more the same CM taking exceptions at the slogan but her corrosive, ultra-provincial talks seems to be ominous more than anything else. Well, each cloud has a silver lining too. Mamata’s approach was found to be decried across the state and with almost immediate effect.

This is not the sole factor making Bengal queasy. The changing stance of Bengal CM depicts both of her frustration and desperation and sudden, historic ascension of BJP has changed the political climate more than ever before. Since the birth of the state of Bengal in 1947 such a brawny challenge of the saffron brigade is being witnessed for the first time and along with it an odious conspiracy to quell the same is also being hatched stealthily.  Need of evidence? Have a look at the shocking video of Sri Shubhasish Chakraborty, an honorable Member of Parliament of Trinamool Congress at the Rajya Sabha, released of late. The short video reflects how the revered Member of Parliament is instructing his own party colleagues to stop Hindus from casting votes in each capacity. In accordance with the original report published in a Bengali portal called Ei Bangla, Sri Chakraborty, Trinamool boss of the district of South 24 Paraganas, is found busy in instructing cadres of preventing Hindu voters, perceived as potential BJP supporters. Has this been done by him all alone or whether is he dictating a party job and thus showing his allegiance to the highest leadership? It must be kept in mind, the illegal directive was given by the TMC MP while making an in-depth analysis of the recent Lok Sabha election, deemed as an utter disaster.

How has the Trinamool Congress fared in the adjoining area? To be precise, Trinamool has managed to bag heavy wins at all the four Loksabha seats here – Mathurapur, Joynagar, Diamond Harbor and Jadavpur. But the party can feel the heat of the fast changing reality. Bengal had been under the sway of Lefts for decades at a stretch and hence, any talks regarding Hindutva or BJP was being looked down on. Almost a decade ago any such thought on bright chances of BJP in Bengal was scorned. But within a decade of mainstream Left’s decline, Bengal is surcharged with a saffron vigor.  Till 2011, Lefts, especially Communist Party of India (Marxist), had a strong influence and hence, was regarded as a close competitor to TMC. But all have changed by now. While the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken the center stage in political rivalry to Mamata and her henchmen, Lefts have been relegated to the third position rendering discontent to TMC.

What’s the current situation then? To many political analysts, this is a period of transition for the Trinamool Congress and the party changes its stances quite rapidly. Earlier it got an overwhelming Islamic support, now the party is in hands of Islamist bosses and their cohorts. This gets evident best when Sri Shubhasish Chakraborty, MP – Trinamool Congress (stated already) is found to state of how to stop Hindus from casting their own votes. This may turn as a shock to many adherents of democratic institutions across India but not to Bengal having a rich legacy of all wrongs for the last 50 years almost.

According to reports on the very shocking incident, scores of Trinamool Congress activists, dismayed at BJP’s sudden rise the district of South 24 Paraganas, had gone to meet Sri Chalraborty, also a senior criminal lawyer by profession. The group comprising Muslims most hailed from the Bhangar assembly of the Jadavpur Lok Sabha area. While a detailed analysis of the recent Lok Sabha election went on, the majority of votes casted in three booths of Chaitala village in favor of BJP earned the MP’s attention. In the video the MP is found to ask his party activists to retain a close watch on this village and stated clearly, “Hindus there can’t be allowed to vote any longer”. In a nutshell, words do reflect his party’s intellection; the entire Hindu society across Bengal is deemed reprehensible for BJP’s landslide.

It must be kept in mind, ever since ’47 or the year of national independence there has never been any so surcharged 2019-styled election in Bengal. And this is no devoid of any reason. Only a few days back Hindus in large numbers were compelled to flee a few areas, under complete Islamic domination, of the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency. Persistent announcements from local mosques asked terrified Hindus to flee or any attack on them would be imminent. They were also told that all would get normal but only after completion of polls. Later reports do reveal how the entire electoral system got rigged , tens of hundreds of Hindu voters were impersonated and Sri Avishek Banerjee, reigning Trinamool MP and also the nephew of Bengal Chief Minister, had the last laugh.

What’s left for Bengal? The state once known as the brightest jewel and also pioneer in many disciplines, from arts to politics to industrialization, has been turned into a mere pauper. Moreover, the state that was born through immense heroic and brutal struggles against the Pakistani ideology and as the last resort of Bengali Hindus has become a fortress of illegal Bangladeshi Muslims, thanks to Trinamool’s benevolence.  If truth be told, Bengal is on the heap of gunpowder that can be lit at any moment leading to explosions only. There was a blurred optimism that Trinamool Congress would contemplate on the landslide of BJP and would rectify its own paces. Contrary to expectations, TMC and her leader’s or the Bengal CM’s desperation and recent abhorrence to the chanting of “Jai Shri Ram” do prove that there is no early respite. Bengal would continue to both burn and worsen till Hindu Nationalism gets matured in this very region. It’s very difficult to foretell the same even but one thing is getting clearer; more sinister measures to penalize BJP and its Hindu support base are in the pipeline. Would there be a dawn for Bengal finally? Hopefully but surely that would be smeared in blood as well.
